Endless Summer Pool and Spa Service, LLC was started by Jeff Caldwell and Tom Mader in the spring of 2003.
Having a combined 10+ years of experience in the pool and spa industry and a handful of pool customers, the duo decided it was time for Columbus and all of Central Ohio to have another option for a pool and spa service contractor.
Since 2003, Endless Summer Pool and Spa Service, LLC (ESPSS) has grown from a side business to a company that employs 16 seasonal workers and 10 full-time, year round employees.

2023
2023 proved to be another record year. ESPSS purchased a 21st service truck and operated with a record 28 total employees at the peak of the summer swimming season.
2022
2022 proved to be almost as challenging a year as 2020. Three major factors wreaked havoc on the swimming pool industry:
Supply chain shortages continued to plague the pool and spa industry because of manufacturing plant fires, plastics shortages, storage facility fires and increased demand of new pool and spa construction.
In addition, record breaking inflation caused double and triple digit price increases on pool chemicals, fuel and petroleum derivative pool components.
Lastly, workforce shortages forced many companies to increase wages significantly to attract qualified workers or postpone hiring and growing their business.
Throughout all of these challenges, we were able to continue our record of consistent growth in staff, pools under management and increase in revenue.

2021
Our hopes came true in 2021; All of our condo and apartment pools were open and many more people and communities were able enjoy the summer around a swimming pool!
Unfortunately, as the world was emerging from the 2020 pandemic, another major problem surfaced for the swimming pool industry in 2021: supply chain shortages, in particular chlorine tablets and anything made of plastic. Our practice of stocking our shelves the previous fall allowed us to provide many products to our clients that our competitors had trouble delivering.
With 24 total employees and twenty trucks on the road, Endless Summer had the best year on record!

2020
Like the rest of the world, 2020 was a challenging year for Endless Summer too. While we were very busy with residential pool work, the majority of our condo and apartment pools did not open because of Covid related rules and regulations. Thankfully, our 8 seasonal and 9 full-time staff made it through the year with plenty of work to keep us all busy. We hope every community is able to use their swimming pool in 2021!
2019
We continue to grow our fleet which now numbers 19, servicing 525 pools per week. Additionally our staff grew to 26 full-time employees at our peak in May.
To date we have helped over 80 college students work their way to a 4-year degree. Occasionally some of them will graduate and stay with us for a year or two. Most move on to their non-pool related careers.
Our former employees work as Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Engineers of all sorts, Bankers, Financial Planners, Micro-brewers, Sales Reps and in many other careers. We are proud of them all and lucky to have them when they are with us.

2018
It was another outstanding year for Endless Summer. We achieved our best sales year to date.
After 14 years of service and many, many pool cleanings, our first two trucks were retired. Chad’s 2005 Astro Mini Van was traded in for a new Silverado. Tom’s 2002 black Silverado was also traded in for a new Silverado.
A record 20 seasonal employees helped us to manage over 500+ swimming pools and spas each week.

In order to meet Google’s demand for mobile friendly websites, ESPSS completely overhauled our website. This update provides a better user experience
and keeps ESPSS at the top of the search results.
Upon advice of our mechanic, the 2003 suburban was retired with 349,000 miles. Two new trucks and one van were purchased for a total of 18 service vehicles in the ESPSS fleet. We plan to hire 14 seasonal employees that help with the more than 500 pool cleanings per week.
ESPSS also purchased 2,000 sq. ft. more of warehouse space to accommodate our growing business needs.

By March 15 all ESPSS Pool and Spa Techs began using IFleet®, a software and IPad application that works in concert with our scheduling software. Aided by an IPad device, each ESPSS tech manages their route, all daily tasks and any customer work orders while at each service location.
This technology eliminated hand written work orders and saves valuable time and resources in all of our employees’ work day. Instead of hand written work orders, a customized PDF file is delivered directly to our customers’ email inbox detailing the work completed on their swimming pool or spa.
2014 was another exceptional year: Two more service trucks were purchased bringing our fleet count to 14 vehicles. 16 full-time employees serviced over 400 swimming pools and spas each week. Seth Kaiser was hired as full-time IT / Technology Manager.

Angie’s List subscribers once again confirmed that ESPSS is an industry leader in providing the best swimming pool and spa service in Central Ohio. In December the 2013 Angie’s List Super Service Award was awarded to ESPSS.
Because of his outstanding work ethic and personal drive, Kalen Kelly was hired as Warehouse / Fleet Manager. His attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills were assets to the warehouse storage overhaul. Kalen also incorporated new processes and procedures in the management and care of the Endless Summer Fleet.
Two more trucks were purchased to accommodate the growing weekly maintenance accounts. With twelve vehicles and 13 full time employees 375 swimming pools and spas were serviced each week.

In January, Endless Summer moved to its new 6000 sq. ft. facility located at 8205 Estates Parkway, Suite D, Plain City, OH 43064. The new space allowed for additional offices, warehouse storage and garage space. Much of the winter was spent moving into the new space, organizing and preparing for the coming season.
A tenth truck was purchased to accommodate the consistent growth in the pool maintenance department.
After being awarded the 2011 Angie’s List Super Service Award, 50 pool and spa cleanings were added in 2012 for a total of 350 per week.

Once again six Pool Techs were hired to meet the demands as the business continued to grow. Even with nine fulltime workers, there was no longer room to add additional maintenance accounts by August.

2008
After working out of their garages, basements, sheds and home offices, Jeff and Tom decided it was time to expand the business to a new level. A lease for their first location at 7350-F Industrial Parkway, Plain City, OH 43064 was signed in February.
A well planned layout was schemed for the empty 2000 sq ft. warehouse. Much of February and March was spent organizing shelves, moving product from homes to the warehouse and planning for another successful season.
Four seasonal Pool Techs were hired for pool maintenance, openings and closings. All five trucks were at maximum work load, servicing 190 pool services customers.

With a growing customer list, multiple referral sources and a hefty waiting list, it was very clear that this was no longer a three man operation. Two 2007 Chevy Colorado pickups were purchased as pool maintenance vehicles.
Two seasonal Pool Techs were added to accommodate the now four routes and over 130 weekly maintenance accounts.

2006
After three years of working two fulltime jobs, Jeff was finally able to leave his outside employment on May 6 dedicating all of his efforts helping grow ESPSS into a thriving business. A 2003 Suburban was purchased as Jeff's new service vehicle.
2005
In May, Chad Ferrell was brought on to help grow the business. A new 2005 Chevy Astro minivan was purchased. With a covered vehicle it would be a lot easier to service spas and indoor pools in the winter.
Jeff still worked as many hours as possible for ESPSS and maintained outside employment to care for his family.
Business was coming in from many marketing sources, which created 55 weekly maintenance stops on two routes.

2004
Armed with a solid marketing plan and a small book of business Tom became ESPSS's first fulltime employee on May 3, 2004. Jeff still maintained a fulltime job and worked all his free hours for Endless Summer. By mid-summer, it became evident that a Jeep was no longer suitable to service customers properly. In August, ESPSS's first pool truck was purchased, a black 2002 Chevy Silverado.
By season's end there were 25 weekly pool maintenance stops.

2003
After creating a website and logo, decaling a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee - the first ESPSS pool truck - and opening a modest business checking account, Jeff and Tom started their adventure as entrepreneurs.
Since both had fulltime jobs, business was slow and methodical for the first year. Tom had three accounts for weekly pool maintenance: one on Thursday evening and two Saturday morning. Fridays were spent cold calling condo and apartment developments to drum up business for the coming year.
Some major accounts acquired in 2003 were:
Lakes at Bethel, Ortho Neuro and The Vinings at Tuttle Crossing, all of which are still with ESPSS today.
